Chair Caning

Cane chairs are handcrafted by experienced artisans with meticulous attention to detail. The cane used to make the chairs comes from the stripped rattan palm plant, which is really unique. These chairs are available in a variety of widths and styles. Cane chairs can become brittle and split after many years of usage, prompting repair from time to time to retain the vintage elegance they contribute to your home.

Rush Weaving

Rushing a chair is a traditional method of making a seat for a chair with rails all the way around the circumference. Twisted cattail leaves or even twisted strands of paper can be used for rushing. To fill in the seat, strands of rush are stretched over the seat and looped around the rails in a counterclockwise fashion. Additional cushioning is provided by corrugated cardboard.

Chair Caning History

Cane furniture, in general, was created at the greatest quality and at an incredible rate, with its highly popular origins dating back to the Regency era and the fashion influence that came from the East. People are utilizing regency style furniture to create, decorate, and give their houses an exquisite aesthetic that can't be achieved with current furniture now that fashion is increasingly modern in design.
